Senior National Conference Leader and MLA Budgam Aga Syed Ruhullah addressed a road show and public meeting in Budgam Tuesday and said that National Conference was the only political force that could safeguard J&K’s interests amid an attempted invasion by vested interest who plan on abrogating Article 370 and fragmenting the State from within.

In a statement a spokesman of the NC said Ruhullah highlighted the initiatives in development that were taken in Budgam during the last six years including the creation if five new Administrative Units in the Constituency alone with Tehsil status to Narbal and Soibugh, Community Development Block in Soibugh and Nayabats to Sholipora, Narbal and Humhama.

“If there is a political force in J&K that can protect the interest of the State and its people at this unique juncture in the political history of the State, it is undoubtedly only National Conference which can rise to the occasion. There are intrigues that are being hatched to abrogate Article 370 which forms the basis of the special status for our State and is a part of our identity, political stature and protects our aspirations. In light of these intrigues it becomes an onerous duty to put our weight behind Omar Abdullah and National Conference in the larger interests of J&K and its people. Any complacency on the part of the voters at this crucial juncture can forever end up destroying what we have protected all this while by giving our blood,” he said.

Ruhullah asked the people of Budgam to go through the list of candidates that PDP has put forth and see “how many among them have been convicted of corruption, embezzlement and have been found involved in activities that go against all ethics and morals in public life.”

“PDP has collected all corruption specialists together and has given them mandates so that the party can use them for furthering its self-seeking, monetary goals. PDP has given mandates to those who have been convicted by courts of cases of graft and corruption. This party wants to set us back to their time in power when they turned J&K into the most corrupt State in the country – a blot of shame that was erased by the efforts of Omar Abdullah and National Conference in eradicating corruption in J&K in the last six years,” Ruhullah said.

“PDP has a habit of saying exactly what they don’t mean and intend to do. They are also oblivious to their own history and that of their patron. What happened to PDP’s ‘self-rule’ document? There is not a single word about it from PDP today – they have abandoned their flagship political vision document for pleasing their bosses in New Delhi. Come these assembly elections, PDP will get a big surprise in the form of a rejection by people in all three regions of the State because of these contradictions and lies,” he added.
