A day after his release from house detention, Kashmir’s head priest, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was Saturday again put under house detention at his Nigeen residence.

A spokesperson of Mirwaiz Umar informed that he was scheduled to address a congregation ahead of Khojja digar at Naqshband Sahib shrine in old Srinagar.

Pertinently, Mirwaiz was arrested after the killing of popular militant commander Burhan Wani and was lodged in sub-jail, Chashma Shahi. He was later shifted to his Nigeen residence where he was kept under house detention.

On Friday, however, police lifted curbs from his residence and was allowed to lead congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Mirwaiz led huge congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid and later along with thousands marched towards Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal where he addressed a huge gathering.
