In what could have been a disaster, a Delhi bound flight of Air Asia was grounded at Srinagar airports minutes after it took off.
According to reports, the plane supposed to fly at 11 am started its journey but was immediately stopped and pulled back from the runaway.
After the flight was grounded, passengers were evacuated and some of them have returned home.
Sources privy to the development said that the plane had the serious technical fault.
However, while talking to Kashmir Life, spokesman of AirAsia India told Kashmir Life that there was a minor technical issue in flight i5 716 which bound to fly from Srinagar to New Delhi.
“It was a minor technical issue on the ground at Srinagar during engine start. After a thorough check and replacement of a component, the aircraft was released for operations,” he told Kashmir Life and added that” during the delay, all guests were briefed, provided refreshments and status of the flight was
communicated regularly by the airline staff.”
Apologising for the inconvenience, the spokesman said “AirAsia India apologizes for the disrupted schedule and inconvenience caused to the guests. However, the airline reaffirms that it places the safety of guests and crew above everything else.”
