SRINAGAR: An Air India flight operating from Delhi to Patna with 164 passengers on board was hit by a bird while landing at Jay Prakash Narayan Airport on Monday morning, according to the Hindustan Times report.
Flight AI 1741 landed safely at around 7:43 am after the pilot reported a suspected bird strike near the aircraft’s right turbine during its approach to the runway. Airport authorities activated precautionary emergency procedures and deployed fire and other emergency personnel.
A subsequent inspection confirmed the bird strike but found no damage to the aircraft’s engine. The aircraft was cleared to operate its return service to Delhi after completing the required safety checks.
The incident marked the second bird strike involving an Air India flight at Patna airport within a week. Another Delhi-Patna flight of the airline reported a bird strike on August 17, after which the aircraft was grounded for two days for repairs and safety clearance.
