Education Minister and government spokesperson Naeem Akhtar on Wednesday blamed the opposition for sine die adjournment of the House by the Speaker as he said that for the first time in the parliamentary history of the state even the staff members of the assembly secretariat present in the House to record the proceedings were physically assaulted.
Talking to reporters outside the assembly complex after sine die adjournment of the Assembly, Akhtar said “Some senior members who have been ministers in the past came to blows, assaulted even the staff members of the Assembly secretariat recording proceedings and assaulted some members of the treasury benches. In this atmosphere the house could not run its business as scheduled. The House has already completed its business and government wanted to discuss other issues including those having political ramifications.”
Alleging that opposition was on hunt for an issue and followed a wrong path to make an issue, Akhtar said “whatever happened is very unfortunate and should not have happened”. On Speaker’s ruling over CM’s Article 370 remark, Akhtar said “Speaker had given his clarification and nothing was left for the opposition to be aggrieved. Chief Minister’s remark on Article 370 is a unique definition of the special status Jammu and Kashmir is enjoying within the constitution of India”. He also said Speaker has the discretion to take a decision on expunging the remarks of the Chief Minister and he has emphatically clarified what he had said on the floor of the House.
Endorsing Education Minister and Government Spokesman Naeem Akhtar the parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rahman Veeri while talking to reports outside the Assembly Complex said the opposition was on hunt for issue and didn’t allow the house to continue.
Saying that the behavior of the opposition was very unfortunate, Veeri condemned the opposition for resorting to what he called vandalism in the House only to force adjournment.
Claiming that Speaker had already said that he has not expunged the remarks of the Chief Minister the opposition unnecessarily created pandemoniums which forced speaker to adjourn the house sine die.
