According to a police spokesperson, the detained individual has been identified as Prakash Singh, a resident of Thilloo village. He was described as a habitual offender allegedly involved in the trafficking of narcotic drugs despite repeated preventive action by the police.

The spokesperson said two FIRs had already been registered against Singh this year in connection with alleged narcotics-related offences. However, he was accused of continuing his involvement in drug trafficking.

In view of his alleged repeated involvement in the illicit trade, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, recently issued a preventive detention order against him under the PIT-NDPS Act, the spokesperson said.

Police said the detention order has since been executed, and Singh has been lodged in the District Jail, Poonch, under preventive detention.

The action forms part of the ongoing efforts by the authorities to curb narcotics trafficking in the region, police added.
