SRINAGAR: Three officials from Sub Treasury Dharmari, Reasi, are alleged to have embezzled Rs 1.38 crore from the treasury. Consequently, the trio has been suspended pending further investigation, Excelsior reported.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have registered an FIR at Police Station Arnas. One of the accused employees has reportedly been detained for interrogation.
“Three employees from Sub Treasury Dharmari have been suspended pending an inquiry into their actions. The accused individuals—Ajeet Kumar (AAO/Assistant Treasury Officer), Balbir Singh (Accounts Assistant), and Ali Hussain Shah (MTS)—are suspected of siphoning off Rs 1.38 crore from the Treasury,” said Director General of Accounts and Treasuries, Mahesh Dass as quoted by the newspaper.
The investigation revealed the alleged misconduct last Monday, prompting immediate action. However, details regarding the modus operandi of the accused employees were not disclosed by the Director General.
As per the suspension order, the suspended employees will be attached to the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries, Jammu. Additionally, the Assistant Treasury Officer from Sub Treasury Arnas will assume the responsibilities of ATO Sub Treasury Dharmari, Reasi, alongside his existing duties.
