SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed on Thursday that his visits since 2014 have been dedicated to winning the hearts of the people, and insisted he is making all these efforts to win the hearts of Kashmiri people, and he has been able to win the hearts and will keep trying hard.

“Whenever I came here after 2014, I have always said that I am making all these efforts, to win your hearts and I am seeing that I have been able to win your hearts,” Prime Minister Modi said in his speech to a large crowd at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. “I will keep trying hard. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, “I have been informed that one lakh people from 285 blocks have joined us virtually. I extend my gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

“This new Jammu Kashmir, for which Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee sacrificed his life, holds a promising future and the resilience to overcome challenges. Witnessing your joyful expressions, 140 crore people across the country share in this satisfaction.” He said he was “elated to be amongst the wonderful people of Srinagar.”

“Today, I had the privilege of inaugurating several tourism-related development projects,” he said.

The PM said that the potential for development, tourism opportunities, empowerment of farmers, and the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth will pave the way for a developed region.

He also said that Jammu and Kashmir is not just a territory; it represents the pride of India. The progress of Jammu and Kashmir is a priority for a developed India, he added.

Earlier, the Prime Minister distributed appointment letters to nearly 1,000 newly recruited government employees and interacted with the beneficiaries of various central schemes, including women achievers, farmers and entrepreneurs.

“The feeling of landing on Dharti Kay Swarg (paradise on earth) can’t be explained in words. The beautiful mountains and the aura are touching,” PM Modi said while sharing his experience of landing in Srinagar. The Prime Minister said that he would leave no stone unturned to return the love given to him by the people of Kashmir. “That’s the Modi’s guarantee,” he said and repeated it in Kashmiri, “Modi Seinz guarantee (Modi’s guarantee).”

PM Modi said that he was recently in Jammu where he inaugurated developmental projects worth Rs 3200 crore and today in a short period, he is in Srinagar to inaugurate many developmental projects worth Rs 6400 Crore. “Jammu and Kashmir is India’s crown and nobody can stop its journey towards touching new heights of development,” he said. “There was a time when developmental schemes were implemented in the rest of the country but not here. Time has taken a new turn, today I have inaugurated schemes for the rest of the country from this place.”

Taking a jibe at Congress and political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said that Article 370 always benefited these parties, not the common people. “After removing Article 370, peoples’ dreams are getting fulfilled and new opportunities are knocking on their doors. A few political parties used Article 370 for their political benefits but that’s over now,” he said without naming any party other than the Congress. He, however, was referring to the National Conference and PDP.

After the removal of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi said that for the first time, West Pakistan Refugees, Valmikis and downtrodden people were given voting rights. “These people have been waiting for their rights for the past 70 years,” he said.

Accusing the Jammu and Kashmir’s political parties of ruining the premier financial institution JK Bank, PM Modi said that the Bank was about to sink and people were set to lose crores of their deposited money.

“We saved this bank from the clutches of political parties of J&K. Today, the Bank earns a profit worth Rs 1700 Crore. Its share rate has also gone up to Rs 140. The bank is now doing business of Rs 2.25 lakh crore,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi said that as the month of Muslim fasting, the Ramzan is approaching, Jammu and Kashmir will move ahead with peace and prosperity. “In the next five years, JK will witness a huge change on the developmental front. Nobody can stop the JK’s train of success, peace and prosperity,” he said
