Accusing serious violation of model code of conduct and misuse of official machinery by the ruling National Conference to manipulate victory of its candidate in the Legislative Council elections, former Finance Minister and senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tariq Hamid Qarra has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to take action NC leaders and MLAs.
In a statement issued here Wednesday, Qarra said that MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Kitchloo has conducted extensive tour of the Decchan, Marwah and Wadwan areas of Kishtwar district in connection with the campaign of the Legislative Council elections. Qarra said that during the campaign the MLA has took officers of the CAPD, Roads and Buildings, Rural Development Department with him and announced various projects.
Qarra said that by taking officers of different departments with him during the campaign was glaring example of the misuse of the official machinery and violation of the model code of conduct. He said that coalition parties were brazenly violating model code of conduct. He said that NC leaders have been convening meetings of Panchs and Sarpanches at various places and summoning government officers to election rallies to promote the prospects of ruling alliance candidates.
