In continuing efforts by Chinar Corps in assisting and performing social obligation towards people, Rashtriya Rifles camp at Manasbal achieved yet another milestone by empowering the girls and giving them the “Wings of Technology”, a defence spokesman said in a statement.

“20 girl students from Wakura and nearby areas in Ganderbal were imparted basic training in computer handling. As per a local girl Naseema, the course has made them confident and opened a horizon for higher achievements. Commander Manasbal Camp distributed certificates to the children and encouraged them. Parents of the girls who were also present to witness the ceremony thanked the Army for its efforts,” he said.

“This multi-dimensional event also had felicitation by the Army for those youth who had provided voluntary assistance during the floods. It may be reminded that recent floods had witnessed close to 23,000 displaced persons from Sonawari and Shilwat taking shelter in villages around Wakura. It was in these times that these youth had come forward and worked with the RR troops shoulder to shoulder in providing relief and succour to the needy. Army also distributed 250 sets of blankets and utensils to the needy and destitute who were badly effected in the recent calamity,” he added.
