Residents of Gund Dachina in Bandipora district Tuesday blocked Bandipora-Srinagar road raising slogans against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair a power transformer damaged a week ago.

The protesters said that the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to restore the electricity.

The protesters hampered the traffic movement for hours together.

They said that that they are reeling under darkness due to damaged transformers. “Despite informing the concerned authorities many times no one has paid any heed to our voices,” they said.

An official of the PDD department in Bandipora said that the transformer was damaged a couple of times due to extensive load. “The village needs a 250 KV transformer which can bear the load. We would install an old transformer by today evening,” he said.

Meanwhile, the residents of Watpora also staged a protest demonstration against the PDD for failing to provide uninterrupted power supply.

The protestors raised anti-PDD slogans and blocked the Bandipora-Sopore road, disrupting traffic movement.
