Forces on Friday recovered an anti-tank mine in Chaklu area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

A senior army official said that following specific information, army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched searches along Baramulla-Kupwara highway near Chaklu, which is around 4 kilometres from the Main Town.

“During the searches, an anti-Tank mine MK1 and a partially cut artillery shell was found near a dugout,” they said.

The Bomb Disposal squad of Baramulla and 46 RR rushed to the spot and defused the mine, the official said, adding that a major tragedy was averted by defusing the device. (GNS)
