SOG man joins LeT along with AK-47 rifle in Sopore

A policeman along with his service rifle has gone missing from Special Operation Group (SOG) camp Sopore, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday evening.

Official sources said that the policeman Mohammad Shafi Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Nowpora Sopore working with SOG was performing his duty in the apple town Sopore yesterday and till late in the evening he did not return back.

“The initial investigations revealed that the SPO had joined the ranks of militant outfit Lashkar-i-Toiba along with an AK-47 rifle”, they said.

Meanwhile, a local police officer while confirming the incident said that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigations taken up.

“A special inquiry team has also been constituted to trace the whereabouts of the SPO”, the official said. (GNS)
