An official communiqué issued by ARTO reads, “As per circular directions, we have to maintain video records of the above activities conducted by the respective boards for a period of three months. As noticed, we have been doing so. Both boards are advised to maintain proper records of test sheets and GPS location pictures/videography and submit the same after each trial/test is conducted. This will ensure transparency and proper maintenance of records.”

The ARTO further emphasised that enforcement and awareness efforts must go hand in hand. This includes audits of school and public transport, pollution checking centres, and driving institutes. All such activities must be supported with photographic or video evidence showing dates.

“Enforcement and awareness must go hand in hand. We do audits of school transport/public transport, checking of pollution centres/driving institutes, etc., which also need proper photographic evidence with dates,” the directive added.

The order, numbered ARTO/PS/162, directs both Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) to strictly submit proper video records along with test sheets for onward submission. (JKNS)
