A day after the Jammu and Kashmir High court quashed her PSA, Sofi Fehmeeda, the personal secretary of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chairperson Asiya Andrabi was today released from detention.
A spokesperson of DeM said that they had taken the court orders to Baramulla Sub Jail where she was detained under PSA. Today, she said, Fehmeeda was brought to Women’s Police Station Rambagh from the Sub Jail and was released from there.
Pertinently, a bench of Justice Muzzafar Atthar Thursday quashed Fahmeeda’s detention and directed the government to release her forthwith.
Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom who represented Fahmeeda had pleaded that the detention order against the detenue was out of sync with the provisions of law while the state counsel defended the government.
