Right wing Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), ally of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in state government, on Thursday paid tributes to its ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.

As soon as the business resumed in the Legislative Assembly, BJP J&K chief, Sat Paul Sharma, informed the house as “how BJP ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookerjee was murdered in Kashmir on June 23, 1953”.

This statement of BJP’s Sharma invited fierce reaction from Langate Lawmaker Engineer Shiekh Abdul Rasheed. “His dreams can never be fulfilled,” Rasheed told BJP members.

“We pay tributes to our ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookerjee who was ruthlessly killed in Srinagar on this day in 1953,” Sharma told the house.

Notably, then Bharatiya Jana Sangh along with Hindu Mahasabha and Ram Rajya Parishad had launched a massive Satyagraha to get “removed the pernicious provisions”.

Mookerjee got into Kashmir territory without permit from then Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah government in 1953 and was arrested on 11th May while crossing border. He died as detainee on June 23, 1953.

Mookerjee wanted “complete integration of Kashmir with the union of India”. Ek Pradhan, Ek Vidhan and Ek Nishan is the famous slogan of Jana Sangh founder which has been carried forward by BJP. However, Langate Lawamker has been asserting that he will “never allow it to happen”. Interestingly, of late, he started observing state flag day on June 07 for last three years.
