Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday said that the chief minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti “is not feeling well”.

Notably, the Lower House of J&K Legislature is debating grants allotted to department working under CM Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

When the debate started, the Opposition members sought presence of Chief Minister. Minister Ab Haq Khan replied that “he represented CM”.

“Madam CM is not feeling well today,” Khan told the house, “I’m here representing her.

Given the procedure, the ministers are scheduled to remain present whenever grants to department working under them are discussed in the house.

However, in emergency cases, the minister can nominate his/her representative who will listen to suggestions and criticism of the Lawmakers and the minister is supposed to wind up the discussion while laying out the design as how he/she will take the departments forward.

The Chief Minister is holding charge of Home, Tourism, Ladakh Affairs, Hospitality and Protocol, Planning & Development Department and GAD.

Pertinent to mention here, CM allotted Ladakh Affairs charge to Tsering Dorjay two days ago.
