Hurriyat Conference (G) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday alleged that the attitude of BJP MLAs from Jammu region in the Assembly is “very aggressive and rebellious”.

“They are hell bent upon to prove the Jammu and Kashmir are two separate entities and they are openly working on this project,” he said.

A statement from the Hurriyat amalgam said Geelani held a detailed meeting with the former Chief Justice of ‘Azad’ Kashmir Syed Manzoor Hussain Geelani at his residence at Hyderpora, and said, “the Kashmiri people are passing through very tough times of their history.”

Expressing his deep concern and anguish over the “increase of influence of RSS and its allied parties in the Jammu province”, ailing Geelani claimed, “a formal campaign has been started at government levels to separate this division from the Kashmir and to paint it with the saffron colour and the key and top posts in the administration has been planned to snatch from the Muslim community at the first stage.”

“The communal forces of India have first time got a direct entry into the administration of Kashmir and they want to implement their long pending agendas of changing the Muslim identity, demography and the status of the Kashmir dispute as soon as possible,” the statement quoted Geelani as having said.

He further said that by coming in alliance with the BJP, PDP patron Mufti Sayeed has opened the doors for the implementation of “wicked policies of RSS” and willing or unwilling, he has to be “the facilitator for all this process”.

“The reports coming from the Jammu division regarding the activities of the communal forces are very concerning and most worrying issue is that the government machinery is being openly and fearlessly used for this process. A strong movement has been launched to remove the Urdu language which is the identity of the Muslims, from even the revenue, police, judiciary and education departments and not only the transfer of some key posts which are occupied by the Muslim officers has been planned in these departments but these posts are being to be filled by the communal elements who can manage everything for their agendas,” the stamen further said.

Geelani, the statement said, informed his guest from ‘Azad Kashmir’ that Jammu has always been the first target of the communal forces and in 1947 these forces not only carrier out genocide of the Muslims of this region but they forced about 15 lakh of them to migrate to ‘Azad Kashmir’ and Pakistan.

“The leaving of Pandit brethren from Kashmir was very unfortunate and sorrowful but nobody talks about those Muslims who were forced to migrate from the Jammu division to the Azad Kashmir or Pakistan and whose properties have been occupied and captured by these communal forces,” he said.

“Our struggle is not any Hindu-Muslim issue but it is the issue of right to self determination of millions of Kashmiri people. While welcoming the Yatris and tourists in the Kashmir, Geelani said that we will not even shy to help them and it is not our favour to them but it is also our religious duty,” the statement added.
