SRINAGAR: Baisakhi was observed with religious fervour and festive enthusiasm across Kashmir on Tuesday, with devotees thronging gurdwaras to offer prayers.
The main celebration took place at Gurdwara Chati Padshahi in Srinagar’s Rainawari area, where a large number of Sikh devotees gathered to mark the occasion. Senior police and civil administration officials also visited the gurdwara and paid their obeisance.
Similar celebrations were held across various districts of the Valley, where members of the Sikh community participated in religious activities including bhajan and keertan. Langar arrangements were made by the community and several NGOs, while medical camps were also organised for the convenience of devotees.
Baisakhi, which signifies the onset of the harvest season, also commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
