Clashes between youth and police erupted at Baramulla after Friday prayers- affecting the normal life in the town at large.

Police later had to fire several teargas shell to disperse the protesters who assembled near the Jamia Bridge Baramulla and hurled stones towards police and other security forces.

According to the KNS district correspondent, youth assembled in groups at the main market of the town and protested against the detention of several youth of the district by the police.

Reports informed KNS that on Thursday night, Police, SOG and army in a joint operation raided the house of Mohammad Ashraf Khan and detained his 16 year old son Adil Ashraf. Also a class 12 students namely Shahid Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad were also detained who were living in Khan’s house as tenants.

Reports added that the houses of Mohammad Amin Tanga, G.N.Kanjwal and Mohammad Yusuf Sofi were raided by the police and carried searches.

According to the inputs, police had launched a manhunt for Ashiq Qadir Lone son of Ghulam Qadir Lone who is believed to be the instigator in stone pelting taking place at various places of the district in the recent past.
