Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday condemned the continuous raids and detention of pro-freedom leaders and activists by NIA sleuths and said that it is very sad that authorities in Delhi don’t allow even peaceful political activities.

Slamming authorities, Geelani said that they have launched a defamation campaign against the freedom movement which people have nourished with their passion and are utilizing NIA sleuths to hide its brutalities to create scare among leadership and people.

Commenting over the recent raids and arrests, Geelani said that NIA raids on residences of Gh Nabi Sumji, provincial president, Moulana Aga Syed Hassan, freedom party activist Zameer Ahmad Sheikh, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and detention of Kamran Yusuf (Journalist) and Javed Ahmad (Kulgam) are highly condemnable.

Geelani suggested Indian authorities to learn from the annals of history and said that they too were forced to live like “slaves” under Britishers. “Their coercive measures won’t dampen our passion nor can deter us from our mission. History stands witness to the fact that ultimately imperial and autocratic forces failed to cow down the aspirations of suppressed nations,” asserted Geelani.

Geelani denounced human rights violations and brutalities perpetrated by forces and said that the “puppet regime” in state is creating a fear psychosis and as such there is no guarantee of life and dignity of citizens.

Slamming and strongly criticizing PDP led administration, Syed Ali Geelani said that through NIA sleuths they are hell-bent to harass and create graveyard like silence and added that despite their rhetoric about “battle of ideas’’, they stand exposed as they are strangulating genuine voices and creating “emergency” like situations in J&K.
