To conduct medical examination of the “lunatic” person accused of desecrating a temple in Jammu, a medical team from Government Medical College Jammu has been constituted for conducting medical examination.

Yasir Alfaz from Shiva village in Bhaderwah was accused of desecration of a temple in Jammu’s Roop Nagar, on June 14, following which tensions gripped the winter capital. Government had to suspend internet services in the region to take condition under control.

Following the accused was slapped with Public Safety Act and was lodged in a Jail. Immediately the government said he was mentally deranged.

After the lawmakers questioned government’s wisdom to slap PSA on a lunatic, the PSA was revoked. However, Yasir is still in jail and the charges have not been withdrawn.

Now the GMC has constituted a team of doctors to conduct Yasir’s medical examination and certify if he is mentally sick. The team of doctors include , Dr Anil Mahajan, Professor & Head, Department of Medicine, Dr B. N. Bhougal, Department of Medicine, Dr Shabnam Rivees , Department of Psychiatry, Dr B R Kundal , Department of Neurology, Dr Rakesh Banal, Department of Psychiatry—order of the Principal and Dean , GMC Jammu reads.

“The above Medical Board Members  shall examine the above named accused on 25-06-2016 at 10;30 am sharp… and submit its report…” the order further reads.
