A team of Civil and Army doctors carried out the checkups and over 3000 people were benefitted. Besides general checkups, women’s related medical issues were also addressed by the female gynaecologists and 990 lady patients took part in it.

“The residents of this area are very happy with this initiative. As people suffer due to the lack of adequate medical facilities at Bhaderwah hospital, this camp has literally brought some relief to the patients of this area,” an army spokesman quoted one of the local as saying.

Speaking on the occasion, Commanding Officer 4 RR highlighted the significance of the camp and said that such camps shall also be organized in other remote villages so that the medical facilities are made available at the doorstep of people living there.

“In order to build strong relations with the people, these events should be done everywhere which will automatically benefit the poor sections of the society who are not able to tolerate the burden of medical expenses,” the officer said.

It is pertinent to mention that the camp was organized by the army to commemorate the death of Naib Subedar Chunni Lal, a resident of Southa village of Bhaderwah, who was killed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on June 24, 2007.
