Over 1500 health personnel were trained by Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) in a bid to upgrade the skills of its workforce under various skill and capacity building workshops.

The human resource which participated in these training programmes / orientation workshops included District Health Administrators, Consultants, Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, Paramedics, FMPHWs, Staff Nurses, Counselors, Data Entry Operators, Drivers and other supportive staff working under DHSK. This has been for the first time training programmes on such a large scale were conducted with an objective to enhance skills and abilities of the health personnel in order to improve health care services in peripheral hospitals.

A total of 1020 health personnel were trained at state of Art Kashmir Skill &Simulation Centre (KSSC), RIHFW, Dhobiwan on simulation methodology in Basic Life Support (BLS), Emergency Room Trauma Course (ERTC), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), High Altitude Medical Emergencies (HAME), Obstetrics Skill Trainings (OST) which also included a week long BLS Training at Srinagar International Airport. Besides, 485 health personnel were trained by Division of Epidemiology & Public Health in different programs pertaining to Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, National Program for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke( NPCDCS), National Urban Health Mission(NUHM), Post-mortem Examination and Medico Legal Case Management at DEPH, Barzulla

Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman said that there will be extend and increase in the quantum of trainings during the calendar year 2017 and focus will be on programmes pertained to Medical & Obstetric Emergencies, Non Communicable Diseases, Bio Medical Waste Management, Disaster Management, Tobacco Control, IDSP, etc.
