After showing displeasure publicly over his portfolio, Peoples Conference chief and MLA Handwara Sajjad Lone, who was earlier allocated Science and Technology and Animal Husbandry, will be allocated new portfolio, sources said.

Miffed over ‘insignificant’ portfolio, Sajjad even did not attend cabinet meetings.

Not only change, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is likely to hold a meeting on March 16 in Jammu where it will also announce up grdation of some portfolios among its ministers.

Locals news gatherer KNS reports that besides, changing Lone’s portfolio, two BJP Ministers of State (MoS) would be upgraded to cabinet status. “After the meeting the BJP’s two MoS would take oath as they would be upgraded into the cabinet,” they said.

Presently there are 17 ministers in the cabinet including Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed. After the BJP upgrades the two MoS, the number would increase to 19.
