N. N. Vohra, Governor of J&K and Chancellor of the University of Jammu, in consultation with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is Pro-Chancellor of the University, has appointed Prof. R. D. Sharma, presently Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, as Vice Chancellor for a period of three years from the date he takes over charge.
Prof. R. D. Sharma has wide and rich experience of teaching, research and extension in business education besides possessing administrative experience at different levels of functioning. He is the senior most Professor of Jammu University and among the senior teachers of Business Education in the country.
Prof. Sharma joined the teaching profession in 1980, became Reader in 1987 and Professor in 1994. In his academic career Prof. Sharma has worked in various positions which include Fulbright Visiting Professor of Business Administration, URI, USA; Chairman, J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations; Dean Academic Affairs, JU; Rector, Kathua Campus, JU; Controller of Examinations, JU; Dean Faculty of Business Studies and Faculty of Commerce, JU; Head, Department of Commerce, JU etc. He has rich research experience and a number of his papers have been published in reputed national and international journals.
Prof. Sharma’s appointment brings to a close the selection process which commenced in November, 2014.
