SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir BJP has welcomed the administration’s takeover of over 200 schools affiliated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), calling it a decisive step to safeguard the academic future of thousands of students.
BJP vice president and former education minister Priya Sethi as per Daily Excelsior report said, the JeI and its affiliate, Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), had “misused the sacred platform of education to spread radicalisation instead of knowledge.”
“By seizing control of these schools, the government has broken this vicious cycle and secured the academic future of thousands of innocent students,” she said in a statement.
Sethi noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs had declared JeI an unlawful association for its alleged anti-national agenda and added that the takeover of 215 FAT-run schools marked a strong step to end the “dangerous misuse of education.”
She accused the JeI and its affiliates of promoting separatist ideology and indoctrinating children rather than providing modern, progressive education. “These institutions were hubs of indoctrination, trying to create generations detached from the mainstream of progress,” she said.
The BJP leader praised the Narendra Modi government for “ensuring education in the Union Territory remains free from radical influence.” She assured parents that government supervision would bring transparency, accountability and quality to the schools.
“Our children will now study in an environment of positivity and patriotism, without the shadow of radical ideology,” she said.
