The former minister of state for finance, Pawan Kumar Gupta, who had contested legislative elections 2014 successfully from Udhampur, has been dropped in the new list of ministers by Ms Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP coalition government.

He won as an independent but was given MoS rank after he supported BJP post elections.

Speaking to Kashmir Life from Jammu Raj Bhavan, Gupta said, “they (BJP) have to explain to my people why they don’t like me and why they decided to drop me from the cabinet.”

He added, “It was BJP who came to me; sought my support.”

However, lawmaker Gupta said that he will be playing “constructive opposition” in assembly, which already has “contradiction in the coalition”.

“My support will be issue based and BJP owes an explanation on various issues, which I’ll raise in assembly,” he further said.
