Bollywood may have a Kashmir overload. Deepak Tijori’s new directorial Dare You is a new film that has Kashmir theme in which a newcomer Alisha is playing the protagonist, Rani Dewan. It was her poster picture showing her middle finger that was termed historic by ‘page 3’ writers in the interesting times of Dirty Picture and Jism-2. The movie is a journey of a girl from Kashmir to Pune. Her talent makes her the blue eyed girl of the Pune campus. The college band absorbs her with open arms and soon their band becomes a group to reckon with.

State’s only listed company J&K Bank was conferred HR Leadership Award at IPE HRM Congress Awards organized under the aegis of APHC Asia Pacific HRM Congress 2012. Abdul Rauf Bhat, Bank’s HRD head, received the honour at Taj Vivanta Bangalore recently. Awardees were selected on basis of internal (within the organization) perception, external perception (based on credibility, achievement and value contribution to the business), track record of performance and achievements, values, integrity and work life balance.

He proved his critics wrong. After registering for the convocation of the university in which he was supposed to receive his degree certificate from the president Pranab Mukherji, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq flew abroad. He is attending the 21st International Human Rights conference. He launched a report Human Rights in Flames 2012 on the state of human rights in Kashmir on the sidelines of the ICHR seminar. Mirwaiz has asked India to accept the 169 recommendations by the United Nations members at the United Nations Universal Periodic Review to address Kashmir’s most serious human rights problems.

Finally, Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved construction of 6.5 kms tunnel at Z-Morh between Ganderbal and Drass. It would cost Rs 2717 crore and ensure all weather road to Leh. It includes Rs 36.48 crore for land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement and pre-construction. The 6.5 kms long two lane bi-directional tunnel will have parallel 6.5 kms long escape tunnel on the new alignment between Gangagir and Sonamarg along the existing NH 1 at Z-Morh between kms 69.5 to 81.3.

It is the new surprise. The new TVC for Visa Debit created by BBDO has Kashmir theme, Kashmir characters and Kashmir shooting. This has perhaps happened for the first time. The minute long ad film conveys that no matter where a person is located, he or she can achieve his dreams using the Visa Debit card. It showcases the story of a remote village teacher saying that as dusk falls, children retreat into their homes and the neighbourhood grows silent for the want of electricity. Then the film shows his brother helping him with Visa card to make purchases on the internet and build a cycle generator to generate electricity for his neighbourhood. The whole locality then reverberates with the laughter of children and the teacher says that Visa gave power to his dreams.

SONAWAR

Within days of her birth, unknown parents left a baby girl in G B Panth hospital. She has cleft deformity which is fully treatable. There have been a few instances of parents fleeing from the hospitals without their babies, mostly baby girls, but this is for the first time in which a visible deformity sounds the main reason. The baby is being taken care of the hospital ICU and so far nobody has approached for adoption of the baby. The cleft palate and lip is a birth defect which is 100 percent treatable through plastic surgery.
