Bangladesh, otherwise known for its apparel market, will get it 60 experts in Kashmiri embroidery. After illegally crossing into the state, they were in jails for last seven years after being arrested from various brick kilns in and around Jammu. Of them, 42 were in Central Jail, Kotbalwal, 17 in Ambphalla, Jammu and one in Baramulla jail. Twenty more are still under trial. Last week, 190 cops took them in trail to West Bengal where they were repatriated.

RAJOURI

Two teachers of a Madrassa were arrested by police for torturing an inmate. Their “victim” was identified as Mohammad Mushraff, a resident of Ghaluti (Manjakot) who was having many injuries when police visited the Madrassa in Andoorkot Mohalla of Rajouri. The boy even had burn marks. The cleric teachers had burnt both his feet using electric iron for not memorizing his lessons! In an anti-climax in Kishtwar’s Patimhala madrassa, students fled for the fear of their teachers. After their parents caught them, police arrested them and dubbed them militants. They had fled the seminary because they were unable to memorize their lessons.

BHADERWAH

Opposition PDP wanted him to cool his heels in the jail for the Bhaderwah triple murder. But the ruling party conspired with the fate that made former state police chief Kuldeep Khuda the state’s first Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC). Jammu Development Authority with police and district administration vacated nearly 1000 kanal land from the possession of encroachers and the operation included setting afire the hutments that encroachers had set up. Apart from influential builders occupying part of the land, “encroachers” mostly included Gujjar’s and residents from Kashmir. JDA sources said part of the land records were forged.

The Board managing the yearly yatra to the cave shrine of Amarnath has issued a menu for the pilgrims. The Langhars will no more be able to serve yatris any fried and high calorie fatty items like poori, bhatoora, pizza, burger, stuffed parantha, dosa and fried roti, bread butter, cream / butter based food, and all other fried / fast food, cold drinks, high caloric sweet dishes like kharran, jalebi, gulab jamun, burfi, crunchy snacks (high in fat and salts) and intoxicants. High protein food like cereals, pulses, patato, saag, soya chunks, besan curry, plain dal, green salad, fruits, boiled noodles, sprouts, tandoori roti, vegetable soup, kheer, dry fruits would be served.

 

JAMMU

 Corruption watchdog State Accountability Commission has closed its inquiry against Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather. Yuva Shakti Mission had accused the minister of giving Smart Card contract to his son. It was proved fake and untenable on the day one. In another case, a complainant who had accused the former health minister Ms Suman Lata of gross corruption had told the SAC that he has been threatened. SAC has asked the former minister to appear in person.
