In 2004, he has adopted an under-privileged school girl Kalpana, daughter of a cobbler, and would take care of her studies. She is now a teacher. Since then, he has adopted 102 students – 82 girls and 20 boys. They all study on his monthly salary. Newspaper reports suggest that on eighth of every month, he ensures to be in Akhnoor so that he pays the boys and girls the money they require. Let nobody ask who runs his hearth.

Right now in jail, but Mohammad Parvez proved smarter than many others. A resident of Manjakote, he was accused of making a rape attempt. As his victim beat him and managed help from her neighbours, the accused fled and reached the town’s hospital where around 15 injured from a road accident were being handled. He mingled with them, registered himself, received Rs 5000 compensation and checked into an awaiting chopper along with many other injured. Once it took off, the police came rushing to arrest him. Though he was arrested a day later in Jammu but now an enquiry is under way about how he could be so smart that nobody could detect it.

World’s celebrated filmmaker Steven Spielberg is planning producing a film that will tackle Kashmir and the border issues between India and Pakistan. Partly, it is likely to be shot on LoC. Spielberg’s company DreamWorks partnered with Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment to produce Lincoln, his latest critically acclaimed Oscar winner. There are reports that Anushka Sharma might get a role. In his Mumbai tour, the 66-year old filmmaker said the film script stands finalised unlike its director and the cast. Wait and watch.

 LAHORE

It was one of the most awaited body bags. Chamel Singh was imprisoned in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Rai jail where he died on January 15. Resident of Pargwal are a of Akhnoor, he had been arrested and charged for spying. It was a hectic exercise for the state government to get his body. It was finally sent through Wagha where his two sons, local BJP leaders and Jammu administration officers received it. Pakistani officials had stated Singh died of cardiac arrest. He was completing his jail term in 2015.

 KULGAM

If systems are objectively honest then this cop need a reward. Identified as Reyaz Ahmad Khanday, this head constable was deputed to manage the situation in Khudwani village of Kulgam along with CRPF. The village is a belt where four major routes of the belt embrace with a half kilometre distance and has always been boiling. By the time 18 paramilitary men were injured, Khanday managed to keep the CRPF calm. And then they lost their cool and were about to fire on the crowd. It was then, that he snatched the weapon that might have killed a youth. It saved the situation. But he got his share when CRPF men caught him and beat him. Let the system acknowledge it.

 JAMMU

Jammu has got a new godmother. Newspaper reports identified her as Aruna Gupta, a Presentation Convent alumnus who failed as a teacher and became ‘Maa Aruna’. Reports said she claims to be having spiritual powers and capable of ridding the society of all the evils. There are crowds who are following her. The ‘godmother’, however, has her hair dyed and uses expensive attire. Her husband is a doctor. She speaks a mix of Hindi and English at her spiritual counselling centre, the Shiv Sambhavi Ashram. But people are asking why a godmother is still staying with the family around!
