Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif

Now comes Bollywood boost. Katrina Kaif whose father is presumed to be a Kashmiri, would fly in for the first time to shoot for Yash Chopra’s Next.

It has Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma as other actors. Part of the film was shot in London and then at Mumbai’s YRF Studios. Next destination is to Kashmir, scheduled for mid-August. Possible locations include Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Nishat Bagh, Dal Lake and Char Chinari. Yash Chopra, 79 shot in Kashmir for the last time in 1976.

MUZAFARABAD

Mehar-un-Nissa, the wife of PaK based Hurriyat activist Sayeed Yusuf Naseem has been appointed as secretary general of Muslim Conference. A resident of Lar in Ganderbal, she migrated to PaK in December 1993 and was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly on July 25, 2006. On November 24, 2009, she was elected as first women deputy speaker of the Assembly and acted as acting president of PaK in 2010. In 2011 general elections she was elected as MLA for the second time on July 25. She was voted out as Deputy Speaker as the opposition claimed she was still carrying an Indian passport, an allegation she rejects.

President Pratibha Patil

A drawing by a Class IX student from Kendrya Vidyalaya BSF School in Bandipora is being adopted as the logo of the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s green initiative ‘Roshni’ after it was adjudged winner among 3276 entries. President Pratibha Patil adjudged the drawing of Robin Singh as the best. The student who drew the sketch is son of a BSF constable Birender Singh, a resident of Aligarh.

KISHTWAR

Police got the Mitsubishi Outlander car of a missing actress who has addresses in Islamabad and Mumbai. They hope the ‘driver’ will fetch them the secret. Laila Khan, a Pakistan born Lollywood actress has been living in Mumbai with her mother Salina. Starlet who debuted opposite Rajesh Khanna in film Wafaa in 2008, mysteriously disappeared from Mumbai and has been missing for last 10 months along with her mom and sister. Interestingly she went missing when she was in J&K. Police had earlier seized two abandoned cars belonging to her family – one in Pahalagm and another in Jammu. People had seen a Kashmiri boy at the actress’ Sunshine Society in Oshiwara. Now police is after Parvez Tak, a contractor who was driving the car. Police expects some clues from Tak who contested 2008 election unsuccessfully.

RAJOURI

A young boy and a girl crossed over to PaK from Keri sub-sector last week. Identified as Shoukat Hussain of Mitti, he was in love with a girl from neighbouring village and the affair was not acceptable to the families. They crossed over to sustain the relationship, not a rare phenomenon in this belt on the LoC. While police have registered a case, a report claimed they were arrested by cops on the other side.

SAFAKADAL

People searching Shabir Ahmad Bhat body in Jhelum

A 25-year-old local resident Shabir Ahmad Bhat slipped into Jhelum when dogs chased him. He was taking a bath in the river. As he came out to of the water, dogs frightened him and he ducked in the river, never to return. Police claimed that it was an accident, as the person was mentally unfit – something people in the locality don’t seem to agree to. Bhat has five sisters. His body is yet to be fished out.
