PakistanWhile Pakistan was celebrating its Independence Day, the photographs of their flag hoisted in Lal chowk Srinagar had gone viral on the social networking sites.  The state police were dumbfounded when two youth, supposedly girls, tied Pakistan National flag to the iron fence of the Pratap Park in Lal chowk, Srinagar. However, the concerned SHO denied and said that there has been no such incident in Srinagar and must have been a rumour in the place. The flag was hoisted despite ‘high security cover’ in the area and so far no individual or organisation has identified who did it!

In a tragic road accident, a family of five is no more. As per the reports Ghulam Mohi-ud din Malik along with his mother, wife, ‘adopted’ daughter and her son left home in South Kashmir’s district Shopian on Wednesday for Deng, Ramban. It is said that they had plans to visit Tatta Pani, a place of hot Sulphur water.  Police reports say that the vehicle they were in fell into a 200 feet deep gorge killing all the five members. Police so far has recovered only one body, search for the rest is on.

JAMMU

About 50 doctors came back to Kashmir following the verbal duel with their counterparts in PG hostel of GMC Jammu over the Kishtwar violence leaving their further studies and services of health department in lurch. The Jammu police have arrested several protestors for escalating tension in the region. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP stated that it will soon launch an agitation and demand the release of “innocent” persons detained in connection with Kishtwar violence. It will also seek the strengthening of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) which have played a vital role in controlling militancy.

ZABARWAN HILLS

The Group presently running a chain of food outlets under the brand name ‘Hattrick’ is planning to start Hattrick Public School (HPS) about 12 kms away from the city and surrounded by the Zabarwan hills. The school will be formally inaugurated by Tara Chand, Deputy Chief Minister, in a grand function on August 18 at SKICC and will finally be thrown open in October. As any other school administration they also claim they will be providing the best education using latest technologies at reasonable price.

KISTHWAR

KishtwarIn a heart-warming incident while the violence had taken toll in District Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir a Hindu doctor was able to solemnise his wedding, thanks to his Muslim neighbours who escorted his procession to ensure its safety to the bride’s home. Dr Ashish Sharma and his family was escorted by hundreds of Muslims to Chowgam ground from there they went to Poochal area, where his bride lived.  The marriage was solemnised on Saturday, a day after communal riots broke out in the district which claimed three lives-two Muslims and a Hindu. District Kishtwar along five other districts of Jammu division were put under curfew for about a week.

The Indian Army has killed 27 militants in 19 anti-infiltration and counter-insurgency operations in past two months in the state, an Army officer was quoted saying.

 

Till April 1, 2013, 26,567 persons were working with the VDCs to fight militancy in the state, Omar Abdullah shared in the last Legislative assembly.
