HAZRATBAL

Talat-V-c-kashmir-University-(1)University of Kashmir had the distinction of standing behind an inebriated and shivering boss when he was about to fall while hosting guests. The new record is that of becoming a marriage manager for another of its former bosses. Reports suggest that Jamia University VC Prof Talat Ahmad’s son’s marriage to Kashmiri girl sent many a white collars rushing to manage the guests, so many within the premises. It even opened the gates of its huge garage to facilitate their travel. The marriage took place in VCs lodge as faculty converted into clapping crowd for a noisy band. This is being done despite the fact that Talat preferred Jamia over KU. University says it is charging for the facilities. That means it has evolved yet another super-speciality to the campus!

DODA

Shaziya-Rehman-KASRags to riches stories are all right. But this one is different. From Dhandal village, 25 year old Shaziya Rehman made a quantum jump recently. Locally read girl who was appointed a Rehbar-e-Taleem cracked the KAS. This rare feat has triggered massive interest among people especially the ReT in her success. There were more people from education going to congratulate her than their relatives.

SRINAGAR

CRPF-held-for-molesting-ladiesFor the police, it was a terribly bad day. There were two instance and both involved immoral behaviours of its men. They arrested Inspector Aijaz Ahmad for a rape attempt on a minor in Kokernag. While the police was busy managing the angry crowds and arresting the official, who was on leave from his duty in Kulgam, another crowd in Srinagar was busy striping Nirmal Kumar, a 12 Bn JKAP man. Kumar was caught by people after a girl in a bus accused him of unwanted attention. He was also arrested.

BATALIK

Kargil-ShepherdTashi Namgyal is a professional herdsman who has the rare distinction of being the first person who detected intrusion in Batalik heights, a situation that led to 1999 war in Kargil. He had accidently chanced upon six camouflaged Pakistani soldiers while searching for his missing yak near his house in Garkon village. JAMMU

asaramIt has been almost a year after Asa Ram Babu is in jail and the property he owns is in dispute. Now the state government has taken a call on 283 kanals of prime land that had been allotted to his Shree Yog Vedhant Sewa Samiti in Jammu. It was after the law department’s opinion that the promoter of the Samiti being non state subject, the lease be cancelled and the land recovered. Now JDA, the official owner of the land, is keen to have a housing colony on this piece of land. But the Samiti has already constructed 30 flats on part of it.

JAMMU

Like an art film, it had interesting twists and abrupt changeover. On August 4 evening, Dr Karan Singh, Kashmir’s only Sadr-e-Reyasat had thrown a party at Hari Niwas, the palace he could not sell for want of buyers, at one point of time. He wanted to celebrate his son Vikramaditya Singh’s fiftieth birthday. Many people from PDP, NC and other parties were invited. NC leaders attended in good numbers and PDP was completely absent. In the morning came the shock that Singh Jr is joining the PDP and not the NC. For many weeks, BJP was chasing the man but somehow PDP got him. While Singh believe it will get them part of the power cake, PDP sees it from the angle of having somebody from the other side. He joined the party on August 8.
