SOPORE

Sopore-EncounterLust follows power usually. Last week, an alleged Lashkar operative Imran Ahmad Dar barged into a residence of a villager and made an attempt to kidnap his daughter. It triggered a crisis and after the attempt failed, the locals identified Dar. Apart from informing the police, they left and set afire his house. Police swung into action and arrested the guy. Investigations revealed Dar had ganged up with an SOG man and he was also arrested. Two guys are still on the run. Dar had come out on bail after being arrested with LeTs Fahadullah. Let has negated police claim that Dar was their man.

SONAWARI

AKBAR-LONE.-SONAWARI-(2)Most of India knows him the lawmaker with his finger up. As Speaker of the state assembly, he created record of sort till he was sent to higher education ministry. But Akbar Lone is facing the heat and seems sweating. He is facing a serious crisis in mobility and is missing lunches. Once, his opponents watched till one of Lone’s hosts prepared wazwaan. As the serving started, they attacked. While Lone fled sans lunch, the ‘raiders’ threw the broth away. In another serious case, they did not stop him from having his lunch but also set afire his host’s house. Outside the house, it is lot of heat and Lone is now raising many fingers. Ask the ‘fingerman’ who came to his rescue?

KISHTWAR

Wadwan, Madwan and Dachan are three inaccessible areas of Chenab Valley that still do not have roads. For elections, the government flew the polling staff 10 days in advance. After the elections were over, IAF choppers flew to the area to get EVMs, security men and the polling staff. While EVMs and security men were flown, most of the staff was left over the mountains. As many as 32 EVMs from these inaccessible belts reached the Returning Officer after four days, without one of the three having mandatory signature of the presiding officer, and then the crisis erupted. Polling staff seeks action against the police and the district administration is supportive of the police. The two sides are fighting the war on roads in Kishtwar.

DODA

It is a painfully interesting case in which father and son are accused in a minor’s rape. On September 30, last year, Bhagmal petitioned police alleging his daughter was raped by Sarveshwar Ghagla (Kashtigarh) as a result of which she delivered a baby boy. Police managed arrest of the accused with great difficulty and when they sought arrest of his father, alleged to have abetted the crime, police was attacked in which a senior official survived injured. Now the father and grandfather are in police station seeking to see baby!

POONCH

shahnawaz-ganie-(3)Confirming it immediately is slightly problematic. But sections of Jammu media have reported that Arahi Mandi’s Mohammad Assadullah has three cases pending with police but it is not impacting his growth as a JE in rural development. In one FIR he is accused of being involved in a rape case. He has been declared a history sheeter but never arrested. Every time, the police want to act, some pressure stops it. The reason: Assadullah is MLC Shehnaz Ganai’s Mama Ji. Busy campaigning for Dr Abdullah in Srinagar, Ms Ganai was not immediately available to talk on the issue.

SRINAGAR

mohammad-yousuf-bhatIt is an interesting case of getting lost and being found out – all within a kilometer. Muhammad Yousuf Bhat of Kanikachi Dal was reported missing on April 6. Family registered a case with police and would protest that he is not being recovered. The police was lucky this time. After 12 days of hue and cry and street protests, they traced the 45 years-old Bhat working in a hotel at Boulevard. But why did police take so many days if it was within a kilometer range? Bhat did not carry a cell phone!

In last 24 years, Kashmir remained shut for 5 years.
