The first batch of Buddha Amarnath Yatra comprising of about 1500 pilgrims reached Poonch town from Jammu on Friday evening and performed `Darshan’ at the holy shrine at Mandi today, an official statement said on Saturday.
“Most of the Yatris came from outside the State and left for Poonch from base camp at Jammu in buses and light and medium motor vehicles. A total 1500 pilgrims who arrived at Poonch today from Jammu were received by the District Administration and Yatra Management Committee including members from Akhara Committee,” the statement said.
“They were accommodated at Akhara Mandir Sarai, ITI complex, Geeta Bhavan and local Govt Higher Secondary Schools. Hitesh Gupta, Yatra Officer Poonch, has assured that the district administration is making all arrangements with the cooperation of various departments and members of religious organizations to provide facilities to the Yatris,” the statement informed.
