In a post on X, Khan described elections as “highly capital-intensive,” stating that for a “commoner” like her, crowdfunding remains the only viable way to meet election expenses. She urged supporters to contribute through a QR code or directly to her State Bank of India account.
“Elections are highly capital-intensive. For a commoner like me, crowdfunding is the only way of managing election expenses. So I seek your support to continue my campaign effectively,” she wrote.
The bypoll in Budgam was necessitated after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who had won from both Budgam and Ganderbal last year, retained the Ganderbal seat, leaving Budgam vacant.
A total of 20 candidates are in the fray, including NC’s Aga Mehmood, PDP’s Aga Muntazir, BJP’s Syed Mohsin, and Awami Ittehad Party’s Nazir Khan.
Besides Budgam, bypolls are also being held in the Nagrota constituency.
