On May 19 this year, some girls, who were undergoing special course in the Noor-ul-Ain Fatima-tuz-Zehra Darasgrah at Shamasabad Budgam, lodged a written complaint with Police Budgam regarding sexual exploitation during their studies in the said institute run by Gulzar Bhat and accordingly a case FIR No. 40/13 U/S 376/RPC was registered in PS Khansahib and investigation were set into motion.
“The investigations have been carried out by a team of officers headed by ASP Budgam and during the course of investigations the statements of the victims were recorded before the Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate,” police spokesman said. “The medical examinations of the victims corroborated the commission of offence.”
Besides, police spokesman said statements of the victims and medical examination led the investigating team to collect other corroborating evidences, which clearly establish the commission of offence punishable U/S 376, 109/RPC by the accused Gulzar Bhat and his disciples.
“The investigation reveals in some cases Gulzar Bhat utilized the services of his close women disciples to obtain the consent of innocent young girls by deceitful means.” Police spokesman informed, adding, “these women disciples used to explain the spiritual benefits of having relation with Gulzar Bhat who according to them has attained the status of spiritual ‘Rehbar’.”
After completion of the investigations, the challan of the case has been presented before the Hon’ble Court of Judicial Magistrate Budgam Saturday and Hon’ble Judicial Magistrate has taken the cognizance of the case.
