SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday appealed to the central government to announce a comprehensive relief package for victims of recent natural disasters in Jammu and Kashmir, citing extensive loss of life and property.
Bukhari stressed that flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and relentless rainfall have caused severe damage across the region, leaving thousands of families displaced and numerous livelihoods destroyed. “The scale of losses is so severe that it has become imperative for the Union government to intervene and ensure adequate compensation for the affected people,” he said in an official statement.
He noted that the disasters have affected people across multiple sectors — including farmers, orchardists, and workers in the tourism industry — many of whom have lost their homes, crops, and vehicles. “People have suffered extensive losses to property, crops, and vehicles, along with the tragic deaths of several individuals,” he added.
Calling for urgent intervention, Bukhari urged the central authorities to ensure prompt and effective relief measures, emphasising the need for swift governmental response to alleviate the suffering of the affected population.
