Taking cognizance in a case of large-scale bunglings and misappropriation of government funds allegedly committed by the officers/officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department, District Kishtwar, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) directed Vigilance Organization for registration of Preliminary Enquiry in the matter.

“Earlier, a complaint was lodged by the inhabitants of village Tagood, Bungam Tehsil Mugalmaidan, through Sewa Ram, Sarpanch, Panchayat Halqa Tagood, in connection with misappropriation of Government funds, embezzlements and other gross irregularities committed by the officers/officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department, District Kishtwar in execution of construction work of Canal from Village Dunwar to Tagood, measuring about 5 KMs, besides, using of substandard material huge amount has been drawn dishonestly by Private Contractors in connivance with  the Officers/officials of the Department,” SVC said in a statement.

“The SVC summoned the complainant and heard him. The complainant produced documents and made certain assertions before the Commission which prima-facie disclosed that the officers/officials of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department have not only misused the Government funds meant for construction of the Canal but, have also inflicted huge loss to the State Exchequer.”

The SVC while looking into gravity of the allegations has directed Vigilance Organization for registration of Preliminary Enquiry in the matter, the statement said.
