Central Kashmir: Drug Peddler Arrested, Narcotics Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 32 grams of a charas-like substance during a checkpoint operation.

Officials said a police party from Police Post Narbal intercepted an Ertiga vehicle bearing registration number JK05M-8910 at a checkpoint established at Syed Mohallah, Narbal, near Peer Masjid. During the search of the driver, the contraband substance was recovered.

The accused was identified as Showkat Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, a resident of Wanigam, Pattan in Baramulla district. He was arrested and shifted to Police Station Magam, where he remains in custody. The vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.

Police said a case under FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered at Police Station Magam under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.

Reaffirming their commitment to eliminating drug abuse, police have urged the public to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking.
