SRINAGAR: The Government of India has sanctioned a non-productivity-linked ad-hoc bonus equivalent to 30 days’ emoluments for eligible Central Government employees for the accounting year 2025-26, with the calculation ceiling fixed at Rs 7,000 per month.
The Ministry of Finance’s Department of Expenditure issued an office memorandum on October 15, 2026, conveying the President’s sanction for the payment to Group C employees and non-gazetted Group B employees who are not covered by any productivity-linked bonus scheme.
The benefit will also be admissible to eligible employees of the Central Armed Police Forces and the Armed Forces. The orders will be deemed to extend to employees of Union Territory administrations that follow the Central Government’s emoluments pattern and are not covered by any other bonus or ex-gratia scheme.
Under the memorandum, employees must have been in service on March 31, 2026, and completed at least six months of continuous service during the 2025-26 accounting year to qualify for the bonus.
Eligible employees who have completed between six months and one year of service will receive a proportionate amount. The qualifying period will be calculated according to the number of months served, rounded off to the nearest month.
The bonus will be calculated on the basis of average emoluments or the prescribed monthly ceiling of Rs 7,000, whichever is lower. For calculating the bonus for one day, the applicable monthly amount will be divided by 30.4, representing the average number of days in a month.
Accordingly, employees whose average monthly emoluments exceed Rs 7,000 will receive Rs 6,908 for 30 days of bonus, subject to the eligibility conditions. The amount has been calculated as Rs 7,000 multiplied by 30 and divided by 30.4.
