Suspected militants attacked a police vehicle near Galandar Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday night injuring two cops while police said that a Tata Sumo driver was hit by bullet also that resulted in his on spot death.

Police sources told CNS that unidentified gunmen resorted to indiscriminate firing on a police vehicle near Galandar Pampore. The Dy SP from 11th Battalion IRP Abdul Hamid according to sources escaped unhurt while two cops including Head Constable Muhammad Yaqoob and Mehraj-u-Din sustained injuries. They were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment where reports said that they are stable.

Police said that a civilian Manzoor Ahmed Qasab son of Ali Muhammad resident of Awantipore who was driving a Sumo was hit by bullet that resulted in his on spot death.

Sources said that militants managed to flee from the spot after the strike while Army personnel from 50 RR, SOG, CRPF and police personnel cordoned off the area. Massive search operation was going on till the last reports.

Pertinently, militants attacked a BSF convoy injuring 9 soldiers including an Assistant Commandant on Monday night. The responsibility of that attack was claimed by militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen.
