Two policemen have died after militants ambushed a police party in Galander area of Pampore on Wednesday evening, reports said. The total number of deaths has reached three.
“The militants fired a volley of bullets with automatic weapons towards the vehicle of the Dy SP IRP 11 Battalion at Galander, injuring two of his PSOs critically,” a police official was quoted as having said.
“The injured were rushed to sub-district hospital Pampore where from they were referred to SKIMS for specialized treatment,” they said.
However, they succumbed to their injuries at the valley’s premier hospital, reports added.
A car mechanic, Manzoor Qasab of Awantipora, died on the spot while two cops were critically injured, they said.
