Clashes between the protesters and the forces erupted in Palhallan area of Pattan in Baramulla district on Monday.
Reports said that the clashes started after the Zuhar prayers when protesters raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans started marching towards the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway.
However, the men in uniform deployed in heavy numbers swung into action and stopped them near Eidgah, Raipora.
“Police and forces fired tear smoke shells on stone pelting protesters resulting in heavy clashes,” they said.
The clashes were going on till reports last came in.
