With some relaxation in rules of ‘cooling period’, finally General Administration Department (GAD) Monday deputed staff to the office of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Interestingly, Mehbooba has retained staff of former CM and her father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

The order No: 360-GAD of 2016 conveys that Hashmat Ali Khan, Special Secretary to the Government, Hospitality and Protocol Department, is transferred and posted as Special Secretary/Private Secretary to the Chief Minister. Khan served as Private Secretary to late Mufti Sayeed as well.

Masrat-ul-Islam, KAS, Additional Secretary to the Government, Information Department, is transferred and posted as Additional Secretary (Press & Publicity) in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Haris Ahmad Handoo, KAS, Additional Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department, is transferred and posted as Additional Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Handoo earlier served as Officer on Special Duty to Finance Minister Dr Haseeb A Drabu.

On issue of choosing Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, the consensus is yet to be arrived.

Sources said a senior bureaucrat who has been in the office of former Chief Ministers is trying hard for the berth, but there are two new contenders for the coveted post.
