SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired another high-level review meeting to assess relief, restoration and preparedness following the recent heavy rainfall that affected several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, directing all departments to remain on high alert and expedite restoration of essential services.
The meeting reviewed the status of electricity, road connectivity, relief operations and district-wise preparedness in the affected areas. Officials informed the Chief Minister that power supply in most of the rain-affected areas is expected to be substantially restored by Wednesday evening.
Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo attended the meeting in person, while Ministers Javed Rana and Satish Sharma joined virtually from Rajouri, where they are supervising relief and restoration operations on the ground.
The Chief Minister instructed all departments to accelerate restoration work to ensure that public services are fully normalised at the earliest. He also directed officials to maintain an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and pre-position food grains and other necessities in vulnerable areas to prevent shortages.
Emphasising the need for continued vigilance, Omar Abdullah directed the administration to closely monitor vulnerable habitations and ensure a prompt on-ground response until normalcy is fully restored.
He also stressed the importance of close coordination among all departments to ensure timely relief, rehabilitation and assistance to people affected by the recent heavy rains.
