SRINAGAR: Cyber Police Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday issued an advisory urging media organisations and the public not to share photographs or videos related to the recent terrorist attack in Anantnag, warning that legal action would be taken against violators.
In a statement, Cyber Police JK said it had observed that certain media organisations and members of the public were circulating visual content related to the attack across various platforms.
“Cyber Police JK cautions all media organisations and the general public to refrain from sharing, publishing, forwarding or circulating such content on any platform,” the statement said.
The police said the dissemination of photographs and videos related to the incident could hamper the ongoing investigation and compromise public security.
It warned that strict action would be initiated against anyone found violating the advisory under the relevant provisions of law.
The advisory comes as security agencies continue their investigation into the Anantnag terror attack and have appealed for public cooperation to ensure the integrity of the probe.
