In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, “At the very least, this encounter needs a transparent and time-bound probe with the facts made public,” warning that delays or lack of clarity in initiating an inquiry could erode public trust.
His remarks follow allegations by the family that the person killed was a civilian, not a militant, and their demand for an independent probe to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
Earlier, the Army had stated that a militant was killed during an encounter in the Arhama forest area of Ganderbal district, prompting calls for a thorough investigation to maintain transparency and accountability.
