SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday rejected a Private Members’ resolution proposing the establishment of a Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in the Jammu region.
The resolution was moved by Legislator Narinder Singh Raina, urging the House to consider the university as a strategic initiative under the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047”.
During the proceedings, legislators Mir Saifullah and Nizam-ud-Din Bhat moved amendments on the resolution. After discussion, the resolution was disallowed through a voice vote, effectively rejecting the proposal.
The decision highlights the Assembly’s stance on the proposed university and marks a key development in higher education planning for the Jammu region.
